Visiting Soroptimists

astrid-guzin

One of the most enjoyable things about being a Soroptimist is meeting people from all over the world.  SI of Los Angeles recently had the opportunity to meet Astrid Oldekop, President of SI Düsseldorf-Königsallee.

Astrid, along with Guzin Advan, a long-time friend from SI Izmir, joined SI Los Angeles club members Jessica Washington, Vanessa Collins, Donna Russell, and Amy Poulos for brunch recently.  We talked about our clubs, and our lives. We laughed, and ate, and felt like we were talking with old friends within a few minutes.  As Astrid observed, it is wonderful being Soroptimists and being able to travel the world and meet new people and always have something in common to talk about!

Atrid presented our club with a magnificent chocolate medallion depicting the Dusseldorf Cartwheeler, a symbol of the city with an amazing history. See picture on right of the chocolate medallion with Astrid and Donna Russell.

We are so excited Guzin is staying in the LA area for a while and are looking forward to seeing Astrid again – either in Los Angeles or in Dusseldorf!
